Those reasons can include being self-employed, working for a company that doesn’t offer health benefits, running out of COBRA benefits, or for some other reason. For those people without access to group health insurance, individual and short term medical insurance can usually be obtained.
Although obtaining individual or short term medical insurance can have some challenges, the challenges are not comparable to the difficulty of being uninsured when a health concern arises.
